A 360-degree view from the Greater SATX Region
Each May, we celebrate Economic Development Week across the country. We took this opportunity to highlight how greater:SATX works across the region to grow quality jobs for San Antonians.
Many hear “San Antonio” and think of what makes this such a great place to visit – the Alamo, Riverwalk, and our Five-Time NBA Champion Spurs. What makes the Greater San Antonio, Texas region (SATX) a great place to visit also makes this an incredible place to live, work and build a business. SATX is a vibrant and supportive landscape to explore your ambitions and where Life Works Greater.
Our organization exists to drive greater job growth throughout SATX. That means we work to direct investments into our people and our place to attract, retain, and grow quality jobs for people living throughout the region. Our efforts have helped to attract more than 120,000 new jobs for San Antonians, assisting more than 500 companies relocate or expand in the region. We can only do this through the direct investment and support of our more than 200 private sector investors, regional economic development partners, and our public sector leaders.
To meet the demands of existing and prospective employers, we are continuing to push our Talent Pipeline Management initiative forward, working across six industries: Construction, Finance, Manufacturing, Information Technology, Healthcare / Bioscience, and Education. Developed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Talent Pipeline Management is a research-based, data-driven framework designed to bridge employment gaps and build high-performing talent pipelines in specific industries. It’s a significant investment in our people to empower greater economic mobility for decades to come.
In direct support of place development, our collaboration in the $2.5 billion San Antonio International Airport expansion project will significantly help position our San Antonio region for greater investment in the future, making SATX better connected to the world. With that goal in mind, we have launched a private Air Service Development Fund to attract new nonstop service to San Antonio, prioritizing our top underserved markets in Europe and Canada, as well as domestic markets.
Economic Development Week allowed us an opportunity to talk about economic development beyond the headline-grabbing job announcements. Those in economic development work day in and day out to build greater environments for job growth.
Working together, we will continue positioning SATX as a place for greater job growth for all San Antonians.
