President's POV
San Antonio is at an incredible moment in its economic story. Nearly five years ago, our region went All In on a shared vision—to invest in our people and our place to grow quality jobs for everyone who calls this region home.
I’m honored to have been part of that team fueling our region’s economic growth. And now, as I begin my service as President & CEO, I enter into this role with a profound optimism for our San Antonio region’s future—and an ambitious, clear-eyed view of what it will take to reach our full potential.
Working together, we’ve built undeniable momentum. Compared to just two years ago, projected job creation is up nearly 200%, and capital investment has jumped more than 400% in the first half of 2025. Since 2021, our team has helped secure projects that created 19,000 jobs and generated over $7.5 billion in capital investment.
These numbers aren’t just milestones—they’re proof. Proof that our strategy is working. Proof that businesses believe in this region. Proof that when we work together, we deliver.
Our work in economic development is about more than landing big deals. It’s about creating the foundation for long-term success and building pathways to prosperity for our residents: better education, higher earnings, and more opportunities. And it’s working. San Antonio now leads Texas in job creation and ranks third in the nation. We’re outpacing our peers in educational attainment, sending more students to college than any other Texas metro, and seeing average weekly earnings grow faster than almost every major U.S. market.
Now, we’re asking the big questions to plan strategically for our next 5 years of growth: What kind of region do we want to be in the future? How do we become a globally competitive metro? How do we evolve to meet the moment? In my new role, one of my top priorities is to listen—really listen—to our investors, employers, educators, industry leaders, and community partners. Because needs are changing fast.
The average industrial project in our pipeline today requires five times more power than just three years ago. Infrastructure—power, water, roads, digital connectivity—is no longer just important; it’s decisive. The good news is that our region is ready, with municipally-owned utilities that allow for long-term planning and transportation partners who drive solutions across the region and the state.
Increasingly, investments in quality of place make regions more magnetic for both businesses and talent. Seventy-four percent of top site selection consultants "Strongly Agree" that community development is critical to winning jobs. From vibrant projects like the Arboretum on the South Side to the proposed Sports & Entertainment District that is reimagining our urban core, we can shape spaces that reflect our community's energy, diversity, and creativity. When we improve on the assets that make people proud to call San Antonio home, we all win.
The truth behind all of this: none of this happens without partnership. At greater:SATX, our role is to attract job-producing investments—and we do it by bringing together the right people, the right ideas, and the right resources to make big things happen.
This is San Antonio’s moment to lead. We’ve proven what’s possible when we unite around a shared vision. Now is the time to think bigger, act more boldly, and invest in what’s next.
There’s never been a better time to be part of San Antonio’s growth story. Let’s build it together—as OneSATX.
Greater together,
Sarah Carabias Rush

Celebrating 10 Years of SA WORX
When greater:SATX Regional Economic Partnership launched its SA WORX program ten years ago, we started with a big question: How can we better connect young people in our region to the skills, experiences, and networks that lead to meaningful careers right here in San Anotnio?
