President's POV
December, despite the sense of sprinting to the finish line, always inspires deep reflection and immense gratitude. It’s a time to reflect on the year behind us and to thank the partners who make progress possible.
This year, that reflection carries special meaning. As we close out 2025, we are celebrating 50 years of economic development leadership in the greater San Antonio region, and the successful completion of our first-ever five-year regional economic development strategy.
Those milestones matter because they tell a larger story. When this region aligns around a shared vision, we deliver.
All In Strategy Impact
Since launching the All In strategy in 2021, our regional partnership has generated nearly 20,000 new jobs and secured $7.6 billion in capital investment across 118 projects, creating a $29.1 billion economic impact. These outcomes reflect years of collaboration among investors, local governments, education and workforce partners, and a dedicated and talented greater:SATX team focused on long-term competitiveness.
We’ve welcomed headline-making investments from JCB, Toyota, and International, while also securing growth from companies such as Guidehouse, Accenture, Amazon, AWS, and Lefko. Together, these wins have strengthened our industry mix, raised our profile nationally, and reinforced the message that this region can compete and win at the highest level.
But the most important result of the All In strategy may be what it proved. A coordinated, data-driven, regional approach works.
Over the past five years, we’ve seen our competitive standing improve across Jobs, People, and Place, the three pillars we use to measure our region’s success against a set of 9 other metro areas. Since 2021, our Jobs ranking improved from 9th to 7th, People from 10th to 4th, and Place from 9th to 8th among our peer metros.
Nationally, we’ve climbed in rankings for job growth, wage growth, educational attainment, and GDP performance. We’ve made particularly strong gains in advanced manufacturing and logistics, where we moved from 20th to 2nd among the top 50 metros, as well as in life sciences and cyber and IT.
At the same time, we’ve been clear-eyed about where we need to push harder in the years ahead, including headquarters, aerospace and defense, and professional services. That clarity is a strength. It gives us focus as we move forward.
That forward momentum is rooted in partnership. Our 10-county model recognizes a simple reality: companies do not see borders. By bringing together the talent and education strengths found across our region, along with the sites, infrastructure, and readiness of our partner communities, we create a stronger value proposition that benefits every corner of the greater San Antonio region.
Now, we turn the page.
Launching Momentum:2030
In 2026, we begin the first year of MOMENTUM:2030, our next five-year regional economic development strategy. This plan builds directly on the success of All In and is designed to carry us into our next era of growth. Throughout the planning process, one theme came through clearly: keep going. Keep fueling what’s working. Keep sharpening our competitive edge.
MOMENTUM:2030 focuses on accelerating job growth, investing in our people and place, and empowering a modern economy. It clarifies where greater:SATX will lead, where we will support, and where we will influence and collaborate to drive impact to ensure our region adapts to new opportunities and challenges and is positioned to thrive for the next 50 years.
Our goals are ambitious, and they should be. Our region has earned the confidence to think bigger.
As we celebrate 50 years since the founding of this organization, then the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation, we are reminded that progress is built over time. What began as a business recruitment effort has evolved into a comprehensive regional partnership focused on long-term prosperity. The past five years represent an important chapter in that story, but they are far from the final one.
We are entering 2026 with momentum, alignment, and a clear sense of purpose. The next five years are about building on what we’ve achieved and laying the foundation for the next 50. If we start 2026 the way we finished 2025—united and focused—there’s no limit to what we can achieve together.
From all of us at greater:SATX, thank you for your partnership. Wishing you a joyful holiday season and a strong, successful start to the new year. Let’s get to work in 2026.
Greater together,
Sarah Carabias Rush
