President POV
San Antonio is at a critical point in our growth trajectory. In 2023, our San Antonio region achieved historic firsts and reached impressive milestones across economic development, air service, and quality of life with recognition from The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, PwC and Urban Land Institute, CityHealth, and others. It feels good to look back on a winning year for our region, but I’m excited about what’s to come in this new year that will be even greater.
Our continued efforts to elevate our Greater San Antonio region’s global presence in 2024 began with our greater:SATX team hosting over 20 Japanese companies from the technology, life sciences, and manufacturing sectors to experience innovation assets in San Antonio, including Port San Antonio, Geekdom, and VelocityTX. Led by JETRO - Japan External Trade Organization, this marked the first time the group's Beyond Japan program brought a delegation to a Texas market, rather than California.
Additionally, our team traveled with Texas Governor Greg Abbott on an economic development mission to India to share the Texas story with India. San Antonio’s cybersecurity story resonated most with Indian businesses. We’re home to the 2nd largest concentration of cybersecurity certified professionals in the U.S. With the nation’s top cyber undergrad program and The University of Texas at San Antonio and additional programs in AI, San Antonio is preparing our workforce to meet the growing needs of companies to employ this technical talent.
We will continue to invest in our PEOPLE and PLACE to drive meaningful JOB growth for San Antonians. The shared vision and collaborative work of our regional economic development ecosystem allows us to set ambitious goals and, more importantly, to achieve them.
We are committed to keeping this momentum going in 2024 and beyond.
Greater together,
Jenna Saucedo-Herrera
