Regional Highlight: Kerr County

KerrEDC is the newest organization to join greater:SATX as a regional partner. Located just an hour from San Antonio, Kerr County provides businesses with strategic access to major markets, robust infrastructure, and a skilled talent pool—all within a setting known for its Hill Country beauty, affordability, and strong community values.

We spoke with KerrEDC Executive Director Todd Bock about what makes Kerr County a place where innovation and quality of life go hand in hand.

Can you give us an overview of Kerr EDC and the region you serve?

Kerr Economic Development Corporation (KerrEDC) is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to driving sustainable economic growth in Kerrville and Kerr County. We support business recruitment, expansion, and workforce development by collaborating with regional stakeholders, including the City of Kerrville, Kerr County, KPUB, and EIC. Our region blends a thriving business environment with the unmatched quality of life offered by the Texas Hill Country.

What types of industries or businesses are you currently focused on attracting or growing in Kerr County?

We are focused on industries that align with our region’s assets and long-term goals: advanced manufacturing, aerospace, defense, precision machining, healthcare and specialty food and beverage. Additionally, we are cultivating entrepreneurship and supporting scalable small businesses to foster a resilient local economy.

Are there any recent projects you’d like to highlight that reflect the region’s economic momentum?

Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing, a defense and aerospace supplier, recently expanded operations in Kerrville in 2020. This project reflects our strategic efforts to attract high-skill, high-wage employers and strengthens our local workforce pipeline. We’ve also hosted the region’s first State of Childcare Summit, linking workforce participation with family-centric infrastructure.

Another transformative win is Megaacrete, a joint venture of Litecrete and Aercon. The company is investing $40 million in Kerrville, constructing a 120,000 sq ft manufacturing and headquarters facility near the Kerrville–Kerr County Airport. This milestone project highlights Kerr County’s capacity to attract high-impact manufacturing investment and signals a significant shift toward advanced industrial capability—marking a bold step forward in our economic development journey.
