Industrial Electric Manufacturing (IEM), a leading provider of custom power distribution and control systems, has selected Greater San Antonio for a major manufacturing investment that will bring $200 million in capital investment, a new 1 million-square-foot facility, and up to 3,000 jobs by 2030.
The project represents the largest job-producing investment secured by greater:SATX in more than two decades and further strengthens the region's advanced manufacturing sector.
IEM plans to establish operations at Brooks in Southeast San Antonio, where the new facility will support the company's continued growth and increasing demand for custom power distribution systems. The project is expected to create opportunities across manufacturing, engineering, logistics and corporate support functions as operations scale.
“This is the single largest job-producing investment secured in more than two decades for the Greater San Antonio region, reflecting both the scale of opportunity here and the strength of our workforce, advanced manufacturing ecosystem and collaborative approach to economic development,” said Sarah Carabias Rush, President & CEO of greater:SATX Regional Economic Partnership. “IEM's decision to establish operations in Greater San Antonio is a transformational investment and a testament to what can be accomplished when regional partners work together to compete and win.”
The project advanced through collaboration among the State of Texas, Bexar County, Brooks, and greater:SATX. Regional partners worked together to position Greater San Antonio as the right location for the project, bringing together the site, workforce and business environment needed to support IEM’s next phase of growth.
For the region, the investment adds significant new manufacturing capacity while strengthening Greater San Antonio’s position in an industry that supports critical sectors foundational to modern living including, healthcare, energy, advanced manufacturing, and more.
The project also builds on momentum at Brooks and across the South Side, where continued investment is creating new opportunities and strengthening the area's role in the regional economy.
“IEM is excited to put down roots in San Antonio,” said Clayton Such, Chief Executive Officer of IEM. “The city’s skilled workforce, strong infrastructure and collaborative economic development environment made this a natural choice for our next phase of growth.”
The company’s investment will expand its U.S. manufacturing footprint and strengthen domestic production capacity as it responds to growing demand. Including this latest investment, IEM has added 2 million square feet of manufacturing space and invested more than $300 million in manufacturing capacity over the past five years.
Brooks President & CEO Leo Gomez said the project represents an opportunity that extends beyond the Brooks campus.
“IEM’s decision to locate at Brooks is a significant win that reaches far beyond our campus and demonstrates what is possible when strong public and private partnerships come together around a shared vision,” Gomez said. “We are proud to welcome IEM and excited about the lasting impact this will have on people throughout our region and the San Antonio community.”
The project reflects years of relationship-building, regional collaboration and strategic investment in the assets that help Greater San Antonio compete for transformational opportunities. As the region continues to attract investment and support business growth, projects of this scale reinforce the value of long-term economic development efforts and strong regional partnerships.
greater:SATX will continue working alongside IEM and regional partners to support the company’s growth and strengthen the conditions that allow Greater San Antonio to compete for future investment, jobs and economic opportunity.
