Cybersecurity Pathways in San Antonio

After high school, many San Antonio area colleges and universities offer cybersecurity and information technology degree programs.

High School Opportunities

Pathways in Technology Early College High Schools (P-TECH) provide students with opportunities to earn college credit, industry certifications, and workforce experience while in high school.

Students interested in cybersecurity and information technology should explore CTE Programs of Study and P-TECH opportunities available through participating districts across Bexar County, including programs focused on:

Unlike traditional high school programs, P-TECH and Early College models integrate high school coursework with college-level classes and employer engagement. Students can graduate with significant college credit and, in some cases, earn a tuition-free associate degree while gaining exposure to real-world career opportunities and industry mentors.

CTE Programs provide students with a strong foundation in both technical and professional skills through hands-on, career-focused learning. Cybersecurity and information technology pathways often combine classroom instruction with practical experiences that mirror real-world technology environments.

Through CTE programs, students may have opportunities to:

The Alamo Colleges District offers affordable pathways into cybersecurity and technology careers through industry-aligned certificates and associate degrees. Students can gain technical skills, earn industry credentials, and prepare to transfer to a four-year university or enter the workforce.

UTSA is nationally recognized for its leadership in cybersecurity education and research and offers a variety of degree programs designed to prepare students for careers in cyber defense, artificial intelligence, data science, and advanced computing.

The program also includes a pathway aligned with the National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense framework.
