Welcome to Greater SATX: Biological Services and Organic Soli

San Antonio’s newest companies, Scorpion Biological Services and Soli Organic, are solving complex problems within their industries, right here in San Antonio. Thanks to the state-of-the-art facilities available at Velocity, TX and Brooks, these innovative companies are able to expand their service territories for our community and throughout Texas.

Scorpion Biological Services

Scorpion Biological Services recently announced the Grand Opening of its new state-of-the-art facility in SATX. The fully-integrated contract research and contract development & manufacturing organization is focused on the development of biologic drugs.

“The facility will be at the forefront of American biomanufacturing”

– David Halverson, President of Scorpion Biological Services

The global pharmaceutical CDMO market is projected to reach $171B in 2026 but the industry suffers from a lack of capacity. Scorpion addresses this challenge by bringing this new state of the art facility online.

“Key community leaders have been working very hard for decades to nurture a bioscience and innovation ecosystem in San Antonio”

– Mayor Ron Nirenberg

Soli Organic

Soli Organic is the nation’s only soil-based, indoor farming company delivering 100% USDA certified organic produce. This month, they announced the building a high-tech, automated indoor farm and packing facility in the Brooks community in SATX

The facility has 100,000 square feet of growing capacity and 40,000 additional square feet of processing space. Soli Organic’s innovation lies in their ability to grow in a denser and deeper six-level tray structure, that more efficiently uses horizontal and vertical space to drive higher yields.

“[Soli Organic] exemplifies innovation, environmental care, and job creation, all of which furthers Brooks’ Mission to promote and develop a dynamic, sustainable, and inclusive community”

– Leo Gomez, Brooks President & CEO

Soli Organic recently closed a nearly $125 million Series D funding round. The company will use the funding to further expand its national footprint and scale its technology and operations

“We are thrilled to welcome these 2 innovative companies to Greater SATX. They are both successfully advancing our region in accordance with our 5-year strategic plan to support our people and place to create quality jobs for the residents of Greater San Antonio.“
