We sat down with Go Medina’s Executive Director, Stephanie Blanks, to find out more about this community.

Tell us about Medina County and Go Medina:

Medina County Economic Development (Go Medina) is your source for current updates, information, and resources in Medina County. We conduct frequent interviews with County officials and local business experts to keep Medina County residents, businesses, visitors, and prospects informed about existing opportunities in our community. Go Medina has partnered with the cities in our County—Castroville, Devine, Hondo, La Coste, Lytle, and Natalia—and many of our local businesses/organizations to bring development to our area while maintaining our small-town charm.

Our mission is to promote economic growth in Medina County through the attraction of new businesses and industry by identifying resources (state, regional and local) that enhance economic development and the general economic well-being of the County, its businesses, and residents.

If you are looking to start up or expand your business, Medina County possesses tracts of land of all sizes available for purchase, no zoning restrictions within any unincorporated area, and is conveniently located by major highways, rail lines, and airports. We have access to fiber optic internet services and numerous water districts. Our county is friendly to business development and will work with you to make your plans a success.

What makes Medina County unique?

We are a rural community comprised of 6 cities, which are all very different but work together to achieve more for our County.

How has your organization shifted since the start of the covid-19 pandemic?

I came on board in February 2020, and then, of course, the pandemic hit the following month. I concentrated my efforts on updating our website, social media platforms, and marketing materials. Even though in-person meetings and site visits weren’t occurring, I wanted prospects to have a better picture of Medina County. I also focused on promoting our local businesses by highlighting them in social media videos and initiating the Best of Medina County contest.

What makes your community a great place for people & jobs?

When you work or live in Medina County, you are family. Our community invests in each other, so we can all achieve success. We have beautiful parks, rivers, lakes, and ranches that are perfect for outdoor fun. We have 7 excellent school districts, as well as private schools, to choose from. Medina County is an ideal place to raise your family.
