Issue 76: People
Paid internships provide meaningful work-based learning opportunities for local students while strengthening San Antonio’s future workforce pipeline. SA Works, the workforce development team within SAEDF, is preparing to host its 6th annual summer internship program. The program connects San Antonio regional high school students with local employers offering paid internship opportunities in diverse industries.
Following a year of virtual internships, SA Works will offer a hybrid internship model this summer, supporting employers to offer both in-person and virtual internship opportunities. Internships are a great way to strengthen an organization’s talent pipeline and provide leadership development opportunities for current employees.
SA Works is actively recruiting San Antonio regional employers to participate in this summer’s program to match the number of students registered to apply for internships.
“Internships are the best way for employers to get involved in building San Antonio’s workforce. We have thousands of San Antonio students ready to work this summer and are inviting employers from across the region to play a meaningful role in strengthening our workforce for the future,” said Saani Fong, School-to-Career Director, SA Works.
Employers can register today to hire summer interns. SA Works will host a virtual Employer Training Session on May 19 at 9:00 am to help prepare employers to welcome their interns. The internship program will run from June 14 – August 6.
