One Year of greater:SATX

As we celebrate one year as greater:SATX, we take the opportunity to reflect on our region as a whole and the partnerships that help this community continue to strive for greater.
So why the name change? Our more than 47 year old organization has evolved and grown over those many years. We were looking for a name that represented progress and inspired confidence, while communicating our scope today. Quite simply, we want SATX to be greater. We exist to attract greater jobs to provide greater opportunities for our people and keep making SATX an even greater place to live.
We are greater:SATX.
The mission of greater:SATX is simple: jobs. We work to add jobs and retain jobs in the region. Over the past year, we’ve worked with companies like DeLorean, Bakerly, TrendyMinds, Kroger, and more that have added over 6,500 jobs to our region.
More than changing our organization’s name from the “San Antonio Economic Development Foundation” to “greater:SATX”, we transformed operationally to become a regional entity. Today, we proudly represent our 8-county San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. The counties and cities encompassing the Greater San Antonio regional partnership include:
- Bexar County
- Boerne Kendall County
- Converse
- Cibolo
- Live Oak
- Medina County
- New Braunfels
- San Antonio
- Schertz
- Seguin
- Selma
- Universal City
- Windcrest
Not only are we attracting these jobs to our region, we also support our people to fill those in-demand roles. Supporting our workforce by connecting training providers and employers to determine the best way to fill employment and skills gaps that enable San Antonians to have equitable access to the roles they want.
SA WORX, our workforce development arm, facilitates a variety of programs that support kindergartners to experienced professionals find their next step in SATX. Programs like Job Shadow, Alamo Fellows, Externships, and Internships are the pillars of how we connect industry to training providers to give San Antonians the best opportunities possible today and in the future.
We are positioning this economy for greater things.
This year has been unlike any other. From an organizational shift, to a full rebrand, to new businesses announced, and more, it wouldn’t have been possible without our amazing Team greater:SATX. Thank you to everyone who had a role in making the past year a success.
