2022 Job Shadow Days
By Romanita Matta-Barrera
SA WORX 7th annual Job Shadow Days was held March 1-3. Job Shadow Days are critical to high school students’ career exploration and awareness by having local employers speak to career opportunities that youth may not even be aware of while sharing their own career journey. Job Shadows demystify the workplace, provide firsthand knowledge of career pathways, and highlight the skills employers look for in new hires.
2021 was a record-setting year for the SA WORX Job Shadow program. Over 12,800 high school students across school districts as far as Lytle ISD got a virtual front-row seat to 40 employers across 15 industries. Schools across the region were able to experience a day in the life of an industry professional and learn how they can follow that same path.
This year, we had more than 30 employers participate. Thank you to the employers across all industries who joined us in building our region’s talent pipeline by taking the first step and participating in Job Shadow Days. Job Shadow Days is a win-win for the community: employers can promote their companies and jobs to a talent pool early in their career exploration, and students learn about career opportunities right here in our region.
To sign up for one of our future programs, please contact the School-to-Career Director. Thank you for helping us build a future-ready workforce.
